Phisher Imitate Website of Anti-Virus
September 5th, 2007
Phishers have created a website which looks like the official website from TrendMicro, an anti-virus software. TrendMicro is warning registered users of spam mails which suggests to download a free trial of TrendMicros anti-virus solution. The faked site actually does contain this demo, but attached to this is a Trojan which will download a spyware program.
Here is a quote from TrendMicro
Beware of spammed email messages claiming to be from Trend Micro but come from a bogus email address, include a subject line totally unrelated to Trend Micro’s business, and include within the grammatically flawed message a link to a domain name that is not an official Trend Micro URL. Phishing attacks like these are not unusual and rogue anti-spyware is common.
